His Beatitude Pope Francis received His Excellency Kabine Komara Vice Chairman of the Founding Advisory Board of the International Water Bank “IWB”
September 12, 2021The International Advisory Board was formed after the presentation in Washington D.C. by the Founder of the first bank in the world dedicated to finance the water sector globally Mr. Rashad Shawa to the World Bank Group and the International Finance Corporation “ IFC” in Washington D. C . chaired by current and former Executives of the World Bank Group . PricewaterhouseCoopers “PwC “ was assigned to perform the feasibility study . The Board placed the structure of the bank and selected The Netherlands to be the domicile for IWB for so many reasons but mainly the capital requirements for establishing an Investment Bank in comparison to other jurisdictions around the world .
The first Board Meeting was held in Paris on January 25th, 2017 and the announcement of establishing the world’s first International Water Bank was declared on March 22nd , 2018 during the celebration of the World’s Water Day during the 3rd Board Meeting held in Washington D..C. Several board meetings were held between Paris and Washington. The International Advisory Board completed the task in 2019 were the formal incorporation steps commenced then after.
Also based on the Founder of IWB presentation to the World Bank Group, the High Panel For Water was formed headed by the United Nations Secretary General and the World Bank President with participation of Ten Heads of States.
The Founder of IWB is honored to be the first person that the World Bank backed his initiative due to the importance of this world class initiative to the world . The Board consisted of highly qualified international professionals in water finance , banking and water , among them the Former Managing Director of the World Bank and the Former CFO of the World Bank. This is a unique world class initiative that will be a major step towards the development of the water sector worldwide and in creating a true partnership between the public and private sector for improving this sector worldwide for the sake of improving people’s lives and livelihood and counties for achieving sustainable development as water is the back bone for it .
